First, you have to have the right mindset and be committed! The best way to do this is by writing down your goal whatever it is. Mine is break 10 PR’s (personal record) from 2020 and improve my cardio. Did you know you’re more likely to achieve your goal by over 40% by just writing it down! MIND BLOWN! It can be on your phone, on a piece a paper, or a sticky note to your mirror. Go do it now, someplace you’ll see it for the rest of the year.
Another tip is to set yourself up for success with mini goals throughout the year. There’s no way I’ll hit 10 new personal records all by May, physically it’s not smart, but maybe break 3-5 by May is. Don’t stay I want to lose 30 pounds and do it all by March. Small steps gets us to the goal. Try 7-8 pounds by March instead. Remember, it’s not a sprint it’s a marathon.
Hold yourself accountable. Set yourself reminders on your phone to go workout. Just like you wouldn’t forget to pick your kid up from school, don’t forget to get yourself to your gym. It can be a section of your home that’s your spot, your gym, or even your daily walk outside. Whatever your goal is work towards it little by little. Take in those small wins. It’s a goal for the whole year not the first month, so take your time and enjoy the process.
