What I learned during quarantine? I’ve used this time at home to reflect (truly reflect), focus on me, and see what I want out of life. I also used this time to just sit back and be lazy at times. AND that’s okay! It’s not a race to see who had the better quarantine, who comes out of this quarantine in better shape, and who started a new business. If all you did was just sit back, eat, watch movies, work, and chill. That’s great! If you started a new adventure, became more aggressive with your workouts, sticked with your diet, well that’s great too! We all handle things differently and we don’t need the comparisons to others.
Quarantine Update
In Florida, we did reopen into our Phase 1 in early May. What I learned during quarantine is to be informed. Watch the news. Stay up to date. I’m a high-risk individual so I prefer to stay at home while this reopening is happening. Mid May, our gyms were allowed to reopen, and this was the BEST NEWS EVER! I loved the IG lives that many fitness celebs have been doing. I truly feel those workouts helped me tone parts of body, my butt looks rounder and higher. But nothing beats my CrossFit gym.
Be Smart
For me, my health is super important. My CrossFit gym does have square boxes (big enough to have rowers, barbells, weights) that is only for us. We cannot use the computer, everything is by phone to log in our time, weight, etc. There an entrance and an exit, completely separate, when we walk in, we grab a towel and head to a station.
Now CrossFit is more of an outdoor workout in an industrial unit, not a close or closed area at all. We have 4 open rollups. The cleaning supplies are already in our area for after class and stay in the box. Plus, all our equipment is and stays in the box. Just be smart and do what you feel is best for you. For me, this is the easiest and only way for me to get back into the world.
What I’ve Learned During Quarantine
I’ve learned that I’m more resilient than I know. I actually found a peace and serenity during this quarantine. I learned during quarantine that I enjoy being on my own. Joining live workouts makes you feel like you’re in a class and its motivating. People tend to spend more time on social media since there’s nothing else to go and I’ve found new people to follow and new people were reaching out to me as well.
I’ve started my own YouTube channel and I’m now planning to record workout videos to post and other things. Cleaned my entire closet and there were 3 bags of clothes to donate and 2 other bags I’ll be selling on Poshmark. I’ve also started working on a podcast.
We Must Move On
Quarantine – how did you do? IT DOESN’T MATTER! There were a lot of days where I didn’t do anything but watch movies and get a workout in. There were days I was on the ball of motivation and productivity. We all just have to be safe, smart and responsible. With many states reopening, we have to be smart and not just rush back into our normal lives. Sadly, there’s no going back to normal for a little while. We have to be smart. Enjoy the ride we have and the time. You can never get this time back so enjoy it whatever that way may be. That’s the biggest thing I learned during quarantine.
