Hi loves! Getting back into shape. It’s super hard right? You’ve been used to a routine and consistency that now it’s like starting at zero again. The soreness, the pain, the fight to go to the gym. I thank God for my family at CrossFit Liger, they keep me motivated and on track. It all feels like “why, why am I doing this?” But there’s the reward waiting for you. Getting back into shape is tough, but I’m going to share a couple of tips to get you back in the swing of things.

Mental Game Strong

It’s all a mental game. The more you do it and get up and go, the better it gets. It is really all in your head, so don’t think you can’t. You’ve done this before. You were committed before so just find that love again and you’ll be running to the gym to get your workout in.

Those doubts, just say “SHH” and block them out. When you’re sore, just think it’s your muscles getting used to the gym again. It should be a good feeling, heck it’s a great feeling. It means you’re working and what you’re doing is right. Don’t let your head knock you out of the game.

Stay Consistent

This is SO SO KEY! Just stay consistent and get yourself to the gym. Stay motivated and consistent with prepping your food. So much of getting back into shape is working out but the MAIN thing is eating right. That happens by meal prepping your food in advance.

I usually meal prep on Sunday and then again on Wednesday to keep my meals fresh. You have to stick to your routine to accomplish your goals. Don’t slack off, I normally meal prep while catching up on my favorite TV shows. My favorite right now is watching Revenge Body. It helps to keep me motivated seeing the stories and hearing that others have body issues as well.

Do It For Yourself

I feel like this is a no brainer, but sometimes we need to hear and say it out loud. So, go ahead and say it out loud. “I’m doing this for myself.” At the end of the day, all the training and clean eating doesn’t mean anything if your head is not in the game. I’ve had times where I wouldn’t lose any weight and plateau. I just kind of gave up after that. Hence, why now I’m trying to get back into the swing of things.

I feel so much heavier than normal, plus I have a pageant coming up in 80 days. I finally realized my head has to be in the game. Now that it is, I’m ready to start back up again. Not only am I doing this for my pageant but for myself. I look in the mirror and feel gross and know I can look better.

Getting back into shape is hard. You have to realize this process isn’t a quick turnaround. You can’t expect to lose weight and get back into shape in 2 days. It’s a process, and you have to trust the process and stay consistent and be in it for yourself.

All the doubt is literally in your head. Just do it, don’t let those doubts hold you back. With these tips, I’m positive your fitness journey will be stronger than ever. Go get after it and kill your workout today. Fitness is a mental journey and a long, consistent one. We all fall off and simply just have to get back on the saddle. Don’t feel discouraged, just know we have to start again. You can do and I believe in you.
