Hi loves! Are you thinking of switching careers? Have you ever felt stuck in your career? I’ve been there and was so fed up with my current work environment that I thought I needed to quit. I feel we all have a moment where we feel like we deserve better, don’t want to be here anymore, or even what are we doing? Sometimes life makes you feel like your path is heading this way but then as you grow your path starts to change. You start to feel as if you need to adapt and change on the go.
I’ve been there and can relate. Today, I’m going to be sharing why if you’re thinking of switching careers, why you should. At the end of the day, you still have a job but it’s important to see what else is out there.
Apply
Sometimes the best we can do, is just see what is out there. Apply for jobs and see what interviews come from it. Maybe nothing that impresses you, but maybe something that you are passionate for is waiting for you. It doesn’t hurt to apply and see what offers are out there for you. I’ve gotten interviews out of applying but nothing that impressed me or made me want to leave my current job for. So apply away on sites like LinkedIn and Zip Recruiter. Put your resume out there and see what hooks.
See The Offer
I’ve recently applied for multiple positions and even got offered a position at both different companies. What I then did, was weigh the pro’s and con’s and see their offer. One position was to be a flight attendant. The pay wasn’t great at all and realizing I would be forced to miss some important dates and move to a complete new city wasn’t worth it. The pro’s didn’t outweigh the con’s. The other offer was to a PR company but it didn’t offer a great pay nor great benefits. It simply didn’t make sense.
Rethink
So it seems as I was stuck at my current job. To be fair, the company I work for is amazing. When I had emergency brain surgery, even though I wasn’t under their health plan they made sure I knew to not worry about anything financially. Plus, my company also had me on medical leave, which meant I could recover properly at home and still get paid. The benefits my current company offers me are incredible. My pay is great for the job I do and I get plenty of vacation time to travel and live out my dreams.
My issue is that my current management staff is the worst I’ve ever worked with. Always complaining and to busy being “BOSSES” instead of being “LEADERS”. I realized that my passion is finance and helping clients everyday with their financial lives, so I simply re-evaluated my mindset and just let them be them. I clocked in then I would clock out. UNBOTHERED.
Thinking of Switching Careers?
Thinking of switching careers? I say follow your heart. I thought I truly wanted to be a flight attendant. Travel the world, meet new people daily, discover new places. I knew I’d be starting from the bottom and my pay was going to be less, but I didn’t know how much lower. Realizing the reality of missing important dates in my family’s lives was also a BIG DEAL BREAKER. I made the list of pro’s and con’s, read them out loud to myself and realized I just couldn’t do it.
It didn’t feel right in my heart. If you feel like it isn’t right, listen to yourself. I always recommend to apply for jobs and see what is out there for you. It doesn’t hurt at all to see and explore. Rethink about your current situation and see what you can do to just suit up and go.
Follow Your Passion
What’s my dream job? I would love the opportunity to travel the world, be a lifestyle/travel blogger, but also speak to young adults about the importance of financial stability. I’m super proud of the fact that my credit score is above average, I have no student loan debt, I’m built myself to be secured for the future financially. I feel this is missing in our curriculum to teach kids and young adults to be smart financially. Will I get to live out this mission? One day. But for now, my current job as a financial advisor provides me with that satisfaction.
XOXO
