Hi loves! Thinking of spending the weekend in Boston? How does a New Yorker go to Boston and actually like it? Crazy, I know but Boston is such a beautiful city. It’s full of history, fun things to do, and the FOOD. I’ve gone to Boston a couple of times and here are some of my favorite things to do and eat in Boston.
I’ve stayed in the Cambridge district of Boston every time I’ve gone. I personally love this area. It’s a lot quieter and always has something fun to do. This is where you’ll find MIT, Harvard, other medical offices. The North End of Boston is also beautiful, but a bit pricier. For transportation, the train is the best way to go. It’s a lot cleaner and easier to navigate than the subways of New York. I’ve never been in the subway and never will, but in Boston no worries. I’ll go on it all day.
So let’s get into the list of my favorite spots. Also guys, let me know below in the comments what your favorite spots are. I’m dying to go back soon and would love to visit some new places.
Favorite Things to See
The Lawn on D
It’s an outdoor event space in the big Waterfront District of Boston. They have fun games and an adult section to grab a drink. The best part its right on the water and just beautiful during sunset. Go check out their calendar because they do have live entertainment and fun innovative art installations. These swings actually LIGHT UP at night! So cute and definitely a cute photo op spot for your weekend in Boston!
Faneuil Hall Marketplace
It’s in the Government Center District of Boston. Built in the 1700’s, you can see the beauty of the old building and how beautiful the whole city is. There are a bunch of cute shops in during the Christmas season it’s full of lights.
The North End District
It’s honestly the best here for a quick weekend in Boston pitstop! There are many parks and all the building have the old stone look. A bunch of cute spots for photos, but here’s where I swear all the food is! Also during the weekends, many fresh marketplaces are open for super good smoothies, fruit, and snacks to eat.
Boston Commons/Public Gardens
Like New York has Central Park, this is Boston’s version. It is full of walkways, nature, and just a good place to go work out or just explore. Closer to the Theatre District of Boston and right near the famous Bay Back area.
Places to Eat
Regina Pizzeria
THE BEST PIZZA IN BOSTON. THE END. The original pizzeria is the one on Thacher St. Be prepared to wait outside because it’s a small place. We waited for about 30 minutes in the cold just to eat here. Well worth it though, a beer and pizza here. HEAVEN!
Cheers Beacon Hill
It’s made to feel just like the old sitcom Cheers. It actually has really good bar food and beer selection. It’s always busy so good either earlier than normal dinner hours or just be prepared to wait. While you wait though, you can take such charming photos.
Quincy Marketplace
It’s right next to Faneuil Hall, it has a bunch of little store with some of the best food. Mac and Cheese was AMAZING here! They have a bunch of restaurants here as well. If you can’t make it to the original restaurants go here. You don’t lose any of the flavor.
North End
Honestly, you have such a HUGE diversity of food here. You can even walk and check out the menus outside to see where you want to go. Food here is the best, in my opinion. Can’t go wrong and whatever you’re craving you’ll find it here. Plus, PASTRIES GALORE! So many fun options for dessert.
Toscanini’s
The best ice cream in Boston, in the Cambridge district. Their best sold ice cream is the Burnt Caramel, but they have a bunch of other flavors and coffee too. You can even sit and charge your phones while Instagramming your latest treat. It’s definitely a hipster vibe but so cute and worth the extra calories.
Sports
PATS NATION
Always an electric atmosphere! If your weekend in Boston falls during the season, GO! It can be the final game of the season in the cold, wet, icy rain against the Buffalo Bills in late December. It can be Tom Brady’s first game back (after the word we probably shouldn’t say) in early October, the fans are always full of energy. It’s definitely a tough place to play in for opposing teams. Also tailgating here is the best, easy walk to the stadium, shopping right near the stadium, and a DJ’s outside to pump up the crowd.
Red Sox
I’ll always be a Yankee fan! But I can appreciate the legendary stadium that is Fenway Park. The bars surrounding the stadium are one of the best and the fans always have a good time. So much to see surrounding the stadium as well. I personally probably would have to attend a game against the National League to enjoy the stadium. For now, I’ll enjoy the stadium from my tv when Price is pitching. GO YANKEES!
Hope this list is a good place to start planning for your weekend in Boston! Leave a comment if you do end up going to any of these places, I’d love to know your opinion. Also if you have any other spots I need to try leave them below in the comments as well.
