Hi loves! Today, I’m sharing a personal experience with you and my microneedling results. I’ve heard a lot about microneedling and how it can help your dark spots, uneven skin tone, and acne scars, but did I really want to have a bunch of tiny needles poking my face? As you may know, I do suffer from acne and uneven skin tones, so I wanted something to clean my skin and help fix my skin. My go-to beauty guides at Mind, Beauty & Soul Salon mentioned microneedling and I figured to do my research first and then decided to do it.
So, What Is Microneedling Exactly?
Microneedling is a minimally invasive cosmetic procedure that addressed skin concerns by collagen production, helping reduce the appearance of acne scars and stretch marks. Microneedling is a dermaroller procedure that uses small needles to prick the skin to help generate new collagen and skin tissue for a smoother, firmer and more toned skin. It is minimally invasive and has little downtime but do except to be red and peeling a little for at least 2-4 days after. The total procedure does take about 2 hours but vary on area being treated.
You do see results after your first session but for best results usually four procedures need to be performed. Microneedling is considered effective in treating minor scarring related to acne and aging. You’ll also see a brighter and firmer skin after. From what I’ve researched prices can vary from $100-$700 a session. Microneedling is designed to encourage your skin to produce more collagen. The idea is that by pricking the skin it causes a slight injury to the skin and your skin responds to that by making new collagen-rick tissue. The new collagen-rich tissue is more even in tone, better texture and help make the skin firmer as well.
My Microneedling Results
My skin had dark spots all on my forehead and chin area. I would be so insecure about my dull, spotty skin. My entire chin had dark spots and scarring from acne. I was feeling gross by it and the pandemic wasn’t helping. After my session, I was bright red, almost like I had a sunburn on my face. The procedure was painless, and I was numbed with topical numbing cream and the tiny needles didn’t even hurt. It felt more like a little message.
I was red for about a good day after and the hardest part was not picking at your skin! Ha-ha. Honestly, after the first day I noticed amazing microneedling results. My microneedling results were so noticeable to me, my skin looked brighter, the scaring and dark spots on my chin were reduced significantly and my forehead there was a noticeable difference. This was also only after 1 session!
Should You Do It?
Absolutely do it! If you have dark spots, scarring from acne, I would recommend microneedling. My microneedling results speak for themselves. The photos are proof of the change it has had on my skin. Now, I will say I kept up with my skin as well, by getting regular facials, cleaning my skin after a workout, having a good day and nighttime skincare routine. If you’re afraid of needles, don’t worry. I dislike needles as well and honestly didn’t feel anything. Don’t let that hold you back from clean, clear, new skin!
If you have been thinking about getting a chemical peel, try this first! It’s less pricey, less downtime, less peeling. Most people try microneedling first before finally doing a chemical peel. I’ve been told many times to do a chemical peel but felt like that was a bit extreme for my case. Talk with your esthetician and get a game plan so you can get the best microneedling results for your skin.

Whether you choose a peel off black mask, or a clay or mud mask, their ability to reduce blackheads is really quite impressive.
