Hi loves! Today, I’m super excited to share my tips on how to plan an itinerary for your next trip! Since I always travel for 3-4 days or a quick weekend getaway, I love to have an itinerary so I don’t miss anything. Plus, it makes sure you get to visit all the places you want to see. I think it’s important to have a game plan no matter where you’re going. Why?

Because, you don’t want to land and spend hours trying to see what everyone wants to do and go visit. You’re wasting precious time. So I always have an itinerary planned, but I know it’s hard to figure out what to do? How to plan an itinerary for your next trip can seem like such a daunting task, but it doesn’t have to be. Here are my tips on how to plan an itinerary for your next vacation!

Tips On How To Plan An Itinerary

  • Discuss with who you are traveling with places you want to visit
  • Do your research – which sites open the earliest or close the latest, price of admission, etc.
  • See which sites are close to each other and visit those on the same day
  • Learn which mode of transportation is the best to use to get from place to place
  • Look for places to eat around the part of town you are in – look for something new (my recommendation)
  • Find a hotel that’s in the middle or near to every place you want to visit
  • Keep an eye on the time, don’t waste so much time in one site you lose time to go visit another
  • Keep your itinerary on your phone and send it to everyone so you can all be accountable for managing the day

These tips have helped me tremendously on traveling to new cities or countries. I always find its best to have a game plan beforehand, because I’ve gone on vacation with people and that day we’re deciding where to go, what to do, and places to eat. You can check out my travel guides here for inspiration. It’s not that it can’t all work out, but I felt after that trip I wasted a lot of time. And that’s the worst feeling to have. I hate feeling like I missed out on a site to explore or wasted my time sitting at the hotel figuring things out.

I definitely take on the group leader role, because I love planning trips out. I love figuring out what place to go first and then the next one. I do know most people don’t like to actually plan it out. It’s hard, it’s time consuming, what if I plan something wrong, etc.? There are so many responsibilities on your shoulders. I get it, all my friends hate it too, hence why I do it. But it is really a group effort. You all picked the places you wanted to explore. You just did more work figuring out how and when to go.
