Hi loves! Recently, my best friends and I went on a spontaneous girl’s weekend in Atlanta. They say Atlanta is the city where the players play, but how true is that? We found a terrific deal on Spirit. $97.00 for a roundtrip from Friday night to Sunday night. Yes, we know we’d only be able to take a personal item with us, but why would we need more bags. It was only two days and we had an idea of exactly what we were doing to pack smart. You can learn more about how to pack from my another post here.
Stay
We stayed at the Westin Peachtree Plaza. It was a stunning hotel and had a Starbucks right in the lobby for a good fueled breakfast. The hotel was located walking distance from all the attractions we went to as well. So you can save money instead of taking a bunch of Ubers. The rooms are super clean and the views are incredible of the city.
Itinerary
- Friday Night – fly in at 1am.
- Saturday- Georgia Aquarium, Coca-Cola Factory, Centennial Olympic Park, Atlanta Beltline and Skyview Atlanta
- Sunday- Stone Mountain (30 minute Uber drive from city), leave to airport by 5pm.
Now we did have stops for restaurants and at night did head out to the bars. We also went back to the hotel to freshen up and change for IG photos, you can see some from my IG. There’s a lot to do in a weekend in Atlanta, but you can fit it all in. Sunday’s unless you’re going hiking or to the Flacon’s game, it is pretty quiet. Most places are actually closed and the streets super quiet.
After hiking Stone Mountain all morning and in the heat, we decided to head back to the city to change for the airport and grab a good last bite. Our weekend in Atlanta was almost over. We headed to the infamous Hooters on Peachtree St, where Drake was said to have a girlfriend who worked there. The food was amazing, true Southern cooking and their drinks on point.
Places To See
- Georgia Aquarium – buy advanced tickets here, I would recommend to buy in advance to not have to wait as long to go in. (Grab a frozen frose, trust me!) (Our overall favorite place)
- Coca-Cola Factory– You can buy in advance, but there wasn’t a line and it was really quick. It’s $17.00 for a ticket and while you wait they give you a free sample of Coca-Cola.
- Centennial Olympic Park– free to visit and right in front of both the Aquarium and Coke Factory.
- Atlanta Belt Line and Ponce City Market– the food is incredible, it’s super hipster and such a great way to see the city. Similar to the High Line in New York City.
- Skyview Atlanta– we bought our tickets there and it’s a cute view of the city day or night.
- Stone Mountain– worth the drive, the views from the top of the mountain are incredible and there’s also a plantation home, cute stores and food as well. It is $34.00 for an all-day/attractions pass, but you can buy separate tickets as well if you don’t have time. (HIGH RECOMMENDATION)
I hope you enjoyed the travel guide to a weekend in Atlanta! Sometimes it’s refreshing to head on a girl’s trip and just explore new cities and have fun. You’ll have some moments that truly are fun, they’ll be some crying, a little stressful with some many opinions, but overall it’s fun and definitely a MUCH NEEDED trip! Hope you enjoy Atlanta as much as we did. So grab your girls and phones and head to the Dirty South for some true Southern comfort food and nature’s beauty.
XOXO
