Hi loves! How do you go from day to night makeup looks? What are some of the staples in my routine? I’ve recently gotten so many comments and feedback on some of my Instagram (@thekarengiuliana) looks. I feel so loved by all of your comments and today, I’m going to share all my beauty secrets with all of you. I’ve shared some secrets before and you can check out that post HERE.

Skin Beauty First

First, as you know from my previous POST, the most important thing is taking care of your skin. Sure, makeup is fun, but I can honestly say there are days when I just don’t care and have so much to do that I’ll leave my house without anything but primer and cc cream. I love my natural beauty and thats because of my skin. I’m confident in my own skin.

I’ve been using the Boscia’s Luminizing Black Mask once a week to just get the pores clean and clear. I’ve also started using Estee Lauder’s Advanced Night Repair along with their Nutritious Vitality8 Radiant Moisture Cream.

These two have worked wonders on making my skin healthier, feel fresher, and help prevent future wrinkles. I use these two maybe like two-three times a week. The Estee Lauder products are more pricey but they truly worked for my skin and you get a lot of product in their bottles.

Learning the Ropes

I’m still learning how to apply certain types of makeup, what brushes to use and how to create certain looks, but hey that’s part of the fun. Honestly, it took me some time to figure out what fit with my face and natural beauty.

What may look amazing on one person doesn’t necessarily mean it’ll be great on you. I’ve found that having clean brushes does make it a lot easier to apply. For cleaning, I use GLVD’s makeup brush cleaner.

I also found watching a quick tutorial on YouTube or following a makeup artist on Instagram helps a lot too. They’re always doing a story or how to video. Find one you like and just hit follow. I personally love beauty experts like Olivia Culpo and Tati Westbrook.

Everyday Look

For my everyday (work) look, I like to keep it simple. Mostly because, I prefer to sleep for 15 more minutes than do my makeup. (brutally honest here) I tend to just wash my face, put this beauty routine on and run out the door or to food.

Daily Routine:

  • Apply a face primer (Smashbox TRUST ME)
  • Apply a CC Cream after which is basically a tinted moisturizer with SPF to protect your skin.
  • Apply foundation
  • Contour a bit with bronzer
  • Finally, end with a concealer under my eyes

Then, literally out the door. I might add a lip color, but mostly don’t. I keep it super simple and basic. Now, I will say I have eyelash extensions and that eliminates any need for mascara or eyeliner. (Life-changing, I swear) I love having them on, because of the time it saves me. I don’t have to worry about mascara and my eye makeup at ALL!

Night Out

For a night out, I tend to play up my beauty look a lot more. I add eyeshadow, eyeliner, highlighter, etc. Below are a couple of looks I have done for going out at night, some more statement than others. I always like to add a bold lip color and my go to for lipstick is definitely Kylie Cosmetics. I love her formula, shades, kits (matte or velvet) and her whole collection.

Night Out Look:

  • Primer: Smashbox again
  • CC Cream: Smashbox as well
  • Foundation: Smashbox
  • Eyes: Kylie Cosmetics
  • Liner: Smashbox
  • Lips: Kylie Cosmetics
  • Concealer: Maybelline and Smashbox w/ Laura Mercier Translucent Power
  • Brows: Kat Von D’s Super Brow
  • Setting Spray: Urban Decay

I recently also testing the newest Kat Von D Super Brow, I did receive the product complimentary for testing purposes, but this is my honest opinion of how it works. I LOVE IT! The shade is medium brown.

At first, I was like okay its completely different than what I used before which was a drug store brow mascara. Which wasn’t bad at all, but it didn’t help give my brows a good shape to them. The next thing I noticed was how long it truly last. It stays on and blends perfectly with my brows.

The first you see “okay’ brows with me using the drug store brand, they aren’t fully defined and not completely blending together. But the next photo, I feel my brows are more defined, look much fuller, and prominent. Kat Von D’s Super Brow beauty collection has a huge variety to match every color and even some statement colors like red, blue, and purple.

Hair

My hair has recently seen longer days. I just cut it short about three months ago. I always had long hair but felt I needed a change and wanted to get it healthy again. I haven’t changed how I style my hair though, same products (Living Proof), same tools.

Literally a MUST (in my opinion) in every girl’s bathroom is Bombay Hair’s 5-in-1 Curling Wand. It is simply amazing and you literally have 5 wands in 1 tool! With my shorter hair I tend to make the waves a lot tighter to help add more volume. You can use my code “KARENB30” for 30% off their tools.

For straightening my hair, I use a Chi hair straightener. Both Bombay and Chi’s products have lasted me for a good 7+ years with no rust, damage to my hair or the tool itself. So worth the price to pay for a great quality product.

Day to Night Makeup Looks

So my beautiful ladies I hope I’ve helped you find a new product to try, a new way to style your hair, or a good foundation to clean skin. Let me know in the comments your favorite beauty trick? Also if you would be interested in seeing a tutorial on certain looks? Thinking of maybe starting a YouTube Channel? Beauty is what fits you. Not what everyone else is doing.

During the week, I’m honestly super simple with my look and I love that. Can I be extra and add red lips and bold brows. Of course! But that isn’t me. On the weekends and any social occasion though, I play up my look a lot more and tend to take some risks because makeup is fun and it’s another way for you to express yourself.

Totally agree with you on taking care of the skin first. It’s an essential – not only for good makeup, but for just feeling good and confident in general ♡ xx

    • May 15, 2018 / 2:11 pm

Yes yes! The most important part is good skincare. 🙂

  2. May 15, 2018 / 3:04 pm

This was great thanks! I really need to do better at washing my brushes *hides*. I’ll check out the links!

No problem girly! I was the same with my brushes and hated cleaning them then letting them dry it was this whole process. The bowl cleaners literally make it 19382718292 times easier, literally you put it in and it spins by itself and take it out to spin and air dry then you’re good to go. Definitely recommend it.

I really love the hair! Sexy and effortless! And a great length for summer!

Totally agree needed a change from long and too much. Thank you!! 🙂

Your everyday look are super natural! I also wanted to learn how to do “night out” make up and yours look super sexy and glamorous. Love your hair and the sheer top from night out pictures.

Thank you!! :)) i just watched a simple YouTube tutorial before I did this look for the eyeshadow and it helped a lot. I did my primer and cc cream then the eyeshadow (in case I needed to fix a mistake with foundation) , next my foundation, contoured with a bronzer (my contour skills aren’t great) and then did my eyebrows and put concealer and highlight. Lips I save for the very end. Hope this helps! 🙂

This was a great post, I like the idea of a day to night look and the looks you chose are gorgeous. I definitely agree that you need to prep your skin first. Perfecting your skin routine makes makeup look so much better in my opinion

    • May 16, 2018 / 8:59 am

Thank you! Yes skincare is the most important.

  6. May 16, 2018 / 9:08 am

Love the day and evening looks! You look gorgeous either way, but I really like how a red lip makes the eyes POP! I like both hairstyles (straight and wavy). It’s hard to pick a favorite!

(You reminded me I need to clean my cosmetic brushes! lol)

    • May 16, 2018 / 9:49 am

Thank you so much! It’s so true a good red lip can make such a difference. Yay always good to clean brushes weekly. 🙂

  7. May 16, 2018 / 9:35 am

I only know how to do ONE look. The ME look – and I make it work for both day and night. ha! IE: I have no idea how to do make up so I just pretend like what I put on my face looks good. lol

    • May 16, 2018 / 9:50 am

Haha I’m sure you look amazing !!! I did too in the beginning and then started watching other artists and some short YouTube videos it really does help. But keep rocking your signature look though. 😀😀

  8. May 16, 2018 / 10:26 am

This is so lovely! How I wish I was as talented and could pull off such a look

    • May 16, 2018 / 12:35 pm

Thank you! You totally can, honestly I was never good at makeup either. Just started on day and there were bunch of mess ups. Haha just try it out and have fun with it! 🙂

  9. May 16, 2018 / 10:28 am

I love your hair curled like that! Thanks for sharing your routine, very helpful!

    • May 16, 2018 / 12:36 pm

Thank you! And it’s super easy to do too, plus I have very straight hair so for Bombay’s products to hold my curls is so much better for me and less hairspray.

  10. May 16, 2018 / 12:21 pm

Taking care of your skin is essential. Love all the looks.

    • May 16, 2018 / 12:37 pm

Super essential! I literally didn’t wear any makeup yesterday to run my errands and didn’t even mind because my skin is so clean and clear.

I love your beautiful looks! You are absolutely lovely and I’m sure your tips will help many women!

    • May 16, 2018 / 4:51 pm

Thank you so much girly! 🙂

  12. May 16, 2018 / 6:53 pm

I love that you play on your natural beauty. I love the idea of playing with makeup, but if I’m honest I stink at it. Normally I use eyeliner, a little eyeshadow, and mascara and call it good. I don’t know the first thing about anything past that. But i love the idea of using something to keep my skin looking healthy and beautiful.

    • May 16, 2018 / 9:09 pm

I was too, literally a couple of YouTube videos and watching some stories on Instagram, I think I’m like Kylie Jenner. Haha! It’s all about practice and just trying. Yes skin care is the most important to me.

  13. May 16, 2018 / 10:50 pm

Your skin looks incredible. The process seems a little long, but the results appear to be worth every minute of it.

    • May 17, 2018 / 12:13 am

Thank you! I truly try to have a great skincare routine. I had acne in high school and even college and always saw it over my makeup and wasn’t as confident because of it. Now I try to have a good foundation and be as clean and clear as I can.

  14. May 16, 2018 / 10:54 pm

Thank you for sharing your beauty secrets. One beauty secret I discovered is to use olive oil as a facial cleanser and moisturizer.

    • May 17, 2018 / 12:13 am

Oooo I’ll have to try that! Do you just rub it in until it’s dry or leave it on until it drys?

  15. May 18, 2018 / 5:47 am

I agree with you, having healthy skin contributes a lot not only to beauty but also in our confidence. One more thing I love for what you’d say – Great makeup or looks on others doesn’t mean will be great in you/me too. I am also in the process of finding which really fits my personality.

    • May 18, 2018 / 10:12 am

Thank you so much! Yes skincare is the most important and it took me some time to find a good routine. You’ll get there. 🙂

  16. May 20, 2018 / 12:03 am

I definitely have been taking care of my skin a lot better now than say, two years ago, lol. I am getting older and need all the extra TLC on my skin. You look gorgeous on those makeup looks, by the way!

    • May 20, 2018 / 12:38 am

I feel ya girl! The older I get the more I take care of and moisturize my skin. Thank you so much beautiful. 🙂
