Hi loves! I’m going to tell you about a few things to do in Florida for the weekend or longer. Do you need a vacation? Have you ever thought about your own home? I get it! You’ve done everything, seen everything. How many of you have this exact thought every time you see other people you know or follow post their travel photos? I know have! I want to go somewhere new. I think most of us take for granted the amazing background we call home.
Why not go and explore a new city one weekend. Take a trip to the local bar you’ve been dying to go too. I’ve always had a need to explore and see the world but never thought my own state could fulfill that need. Florida has so much to offer and places to see. Once you see Orlando, Key West, Miami, then what? Where do you go to next? I started learning it isn’t about the places you go see or how many times you go. It is about the memories you create with the people you’re going with. Simply put, there are so many things to do in Florida.
Things To Do In Florida
Where can you go? For example, Disney. I can’t tell you the amount of times I’ve gone, but it’s the friends you go with that make the trip memorable. Make it new, fun, and exciting. You start seeing the different sides of the parks you never noticed before. Or didn’t have the time to truly take in everything you were seeing the first time you went. Everyone has a different favorite ride, area, place to eat and going with a group makes it so exciting and new every time.
Let’s continue with right next to Disney World with Universal Studios. My parents make it like an annual vacation that we go to. After 4 years of the same place, I figured what else can I see, what else is there to do? Then I started seeing the little things. Eating at other places in the park. Looking for new shows and performance while we’ll be there. Plus the parks are consistently changing to keep you coming back. For example, we went the first summer when the Transformers ride first opened. Then the following when The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. This summer as we’ll plan to go for the new Volcano Bay park that recently opened.
Yes, it is the same park and place but it’s a new reason to go, something new to see. Since we also stay at Universal’s on-site hotels and we always pick a new hotel to stay and explore. My favorite is the Loews Portofino Bay Hotel because it’s a cute reminder of my trip to Italy and its decor is amazing. You truly feel like you’re in Italy! Plus by staying in one of Universal’s partner hotels you actually get free benefits.
Some of the benefits include: early park admission, complimentary transportation to and from the parks, and free Universal Express unlimited ride access, which allows you to skip the regular lines. These benefits come in handy when a new ride is opening up and you get to go in an hour before the park even opens. I remember we only waited like a little over an hour to ride the famous Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts ride. After that when we finished the ride the wait skyrocketed to like over 3 hours!
Explore Your Own Backyard
Finally, explore your own backyard. The same bars you go to in your city, change it up and try that new place out. Get dressed up with your girlfriends and go have a nice dinner or a crazy night on the town. Just make sure you Uber or Lyft back home please. Grab your boyfriend and some friends. Go to the cool bar with some live music that everyone’s been talking about.
Anywhere you go can become an adventure as long as you see it that way. Find new bars in your area to try out. Make it an exciting date night. You’ll quickly find out that your own backyard can truly become an exciting place to see and there is actually many things to do in Florida. My state isn’t lame, there’s something here for everyone.
There are times that I spend the night in Fort Lauderdale to avoid driving after going out with friends. For my 23rd birthday we stayed at the Riverside Hotel and just hopped in a cab to downtown Fort Lauderdale to celebrate. The hotel had a spectacular view and we even got lucky and got the best room in the whole hotel with the corner balcony overlooking the intercostal and whole city. They were so accommodating and friendly, it’s definitely a hotel I would stay at again.
It just goes to show you that any place can be a new site to explore and there are many things to do in Florida. Your own state or city can be just as fun. Do your research and I’m positive you’ll fine a hidden gem. Just grab a couple of friends and make it an incredible vacation or staycation!
